Two of the federal government’s greatest departments had been discovered to have damaged freedom of data legislation inside a month of one another, prompting the watchdog to demand pressing explanations and reforms from each, paperwork present.

The Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC) final month discovered the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade breached the legislation by dragging out and ultimately refusing a request by lawyer and FoI specialist Peter Timmins, paperwork seen by Guardian Australia present.
